Feb 2008 - Slim MiniLine Power Supplies with 15W Output Power
For low-power requirements, three new units have been added to the MiniLine DIN-rail power supply family. With a nominal width of only 22.5 mm, three different output voltages are available; ML15.051 (5V), ML15.121 (12-15V) and ML15.241 (24-28V). Despite the compact construction, all units have an universal wide input voltage of 85 to 264Vac and deliver the full 15W output power over the typical MiniLine temperature range of -10degC to +60degC. Operation up to +70degC is also possible at slightly reduced output power. The units have a plastic housing and can be operated with or without protective earth (Ground) on the input side. The protective earth is not required for safety but does improve the electromagnetic immunity well above the minimum standards. In the development of the new ML15 series, cost effectiveness was an important aspect in the design. To optimize this, deviations from the standard MiniLine specifications occurred. For example, the spring-clamp terminals have been replaced with screw terminals allowing for larger wire cross-sections. The new terminals allow stranded wires up to 4mm2 or multiple wires with smaller cross-section on each connection point. The new 15W power supplies supplement the MiniLine family and provides the user further savings of space and price performance improvements.
Feb 2008 - Universal 120 W DC/DC converters
The DIMENSION CD5 series is a complete range of new DIN-rail mount DC/DC converters. The field applications of these units is very diverse:
- Generation of a stabilized control voltage in battery powered applications.
- Galvanic isolation to avoid earth (ground) loops.
- Mobile applications in ships, fork-lift, trucks, etc.
- Improves the 24V regulation at the end of long wire run.
Voltage drops in long wire runs are frequently under-estimated. If for example, a motor starts and draws a high current, this can lead to a significant voltage loss causing control components to lose function. This is where the CD5.241 can help clean up the "dirty" voltage and deliver a stabilized 24V. All CD5 converters have input to output isolation, are rated at 120W (CD5.121: 96W) and a temperature range from -25degC to +60degC. The units can deliver an additional 20% power reserve and can be operated at this level continuously below +45degC. The shallow depth of the units permits installation in the usual 120mm on-machine-cabinets and the width of only 32mm saves space on the DIN rail. Other features include a built-in soft start, electronic inrush current limitation, input polarity protection and the comprehensive approvals package. The CD5.241-S1 has two built-in relay contacts. The "Input-Low" contact can be used to detect a battery that is discharged and the "DC-OK" contact makes it possible to build redundant systems. This unit is equipped with quick-connect spring-clamp terminals for the 24V and a plug connector with screw terminals for the relay contacts.

December 2007 - Conformal Coated Power Supplies
In environments where dust, contaminants, occasional high humidity, vibration or thermal shock can be expected, devices with conformal coated PC-boards are recommended. Thereby, a significantly higher operational safety can be achieved by avoiding short circuits and corrosion of conductors and solder joints.
The protective coating is made with an acrylic varnish, The coating process is a dip coating and has no impact on the electrical performance of the power supply.
The typical field applications are:
- Paper mills and paper processing industry which must be immune against all kinds of dust and electrostatic discharge.
- Railroads and construction machines with continuous vibrations and rapid temperature changes.
- Farms, where fumes (barns, silos, etc.) are present and resistance to insects is required.

- Subtropical regions with long lasting high humidity along with high ambient temperatures.
- Lighting, advertising displays and score boards which are located in protected outdoor areas.

The UB10.245 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) controller works alongside any standard 24VDC power supply or power bus and with one 12V battery can provide no-break power and protect against voltage fluctuations. The UB10.245 UPS features two outputs, 24VDC for control systems, valves etc. and 12VDC for modems, remote telemetry or control networks.
