June 2009 - There is Safety in Numbers and Now Letters. ML the PULS Power Supply Range that Meets Hazardous Locations Approvals
PULS, a world leader in DIN Rail power supply technology, are now offering solutions for Hazardous Locations with their already well respected and widely used MiniLine range. The range meets Class 1 Division 2 for Hazardous Locations making the units some of the most versatile DIN Rail power supplies on the market.
Hazardous Locations as defined in the National Electrical Code cover a range of dangerous applications where incorrect products can become not only unreliable but deadly. The 'Classes' define the presence of different explosive atmospheres such as flammable gases, vapours or liquids (Class I), combustible dust (Class II), or ignitable fibres and particulates (Class III). The 'Divisions' define the extent of time such an atmosphere exists. Division 1, atmosphere exists frequently or during normal operating conditions, Division 2, atmosphere exists during accidental or abnormal operating conditions.
The PULS MiniLine Power supply range encompasses a wide variety of power and voltage choices. Input voltage options include either 85 to 375Vdc, AC single phase 100 to 240Vac or AC dual phase 380 to 480Vac. The new ML15 power supplies are the smallest units, offering 15 Watts at 5Vdc, 12Vdc or 24Vdc. The remainder of the MiniLine units' power ranges are 30 Watts, 50 Watts, 72 Watts and 100 Watts with the inclusion of 48Vdc output (>50 Watts), 12/15Vdc and 10Vdc versions (30 Watt only). With so many choices there are very few applications where the MiniLine power supply units cannot be used.
All PULS MiniLine power supplies include an overload boost current function that increases current while reducing the voltage to allow for fuse blowing and high inrush current loads such as motors. The MiniLine power supplies can be connected in parallel for extra power or the MLY02 redundancy unit can be included to create a redundant hazardous location power solution. The units can also be used in series to create higher voltage outputs up to 150Vdc without any extra protection. Still utilising the PULS high efficiency, high reliability ethos the MiniLine units reach efficiencies up to 91.8% allowing them to be small without compromising thermal integrity.
Harry Moore, Managing Director of PULS UK comments 'Although the MiniLine range has been around for a number of years they are still proving to be one of the most versatile power supplies. The recent release of the ML15's, our 15 watt power supplies, means we can fit into smaller hazardous locations with even neater solutions!'
As well as creating widely certified, future proof power supplies PULS units offer efficiency, reliability, and small sizes; PULS UK give free technical support, no lead times and fantastic credit functions. Do you need more reasons to buy PULS? Let us know.
